thought of the day: the worst thing to do to a friend is to remind him of the goal that he no longer can achieve when he's trying so hard to forget about it in the 1st place.

yesterday when we were @ frank & son, we were at a store purchasing those clear prisms w/ bubbles in it that form 3d images. there were these $1 stands that shine line at it some it shows pretty colors through these prisms. after purchasing it, the lady boss gives her advice, "don't use good batteries, use cheap ones with these. good batteries won't work, but cheaper ones will." we asked her the reasoning behind it, and she said, "these are cheap. cheaply made, cheap quality. so it requires cheap batteries."

it's nice that hard drive diagnostic software allows scanning drives that are not manufacturered by them. before when u had 3 different drives all from different manufactueres, u needed to d/l 3 seperate software, boot w/ 3 different diskettes and scan each drive individually. now, u can d/l 1 diagnostic software, and they'll every single drive you have, no longer caring about the manufacturer. i thought that was nice.

the 3rd day of vegas: we woke up and had to do our normal packing up, we went to the fashion outlet where we had lunch. ohfuee and kaytoe finally got here and we met up. we walked over to the venetian afterwards and just chilled there for several hours. some went gambling. mmouse and i walked around taking more fotos. we actually got to see a wedding going on and they even had a special gondola for the the married couple. there were tons of street perfomers around and mmouse and i were questioning to whether if venetian actually pays them or if they live off the tips ppl throw in. afterwards, we headed back to fashion outlet for dinner, but on our way, we stopped to watch the treasure island show: the Sirens of TI. i thought the old show was much better. the new one seems to be just a bucnh of dancing and singing and not much action, but then again, there's girls in little clothing... we had dinner @ cpk and the really kewl thing is now they do many multiple bills. our table of 12 got i believe 6 or 7 different bills. and they have a very easy way of doing it because they assign each person a # and then he can group #s on the machine he inputs the orders in. mmouse claims that it's everywhere nowadays and i can't really think of any other place that really allows more than 2 seperate bills. we got back to the timeshare around 8 and saw the upgraded 3BR penthouse. it was indeed bigger, but still the same # of beds. so everyone was claiming their beds and just chilling. the guys (joehk, ohfuee, dng, and antegra) were testing the master bed by doing flips and jumps and twirls. ohfuee brought about this flying squirrel act. he even tried to pull off the one-legged flying squirrel. dng pulled off a really nice flip before landing.

after fooling around for awhile, everyone started to get ready and dressed up for the club. everyone turned out really nice. cant get any sexier than ohfuee and his sexy rainboots. on the other hand, phatfreeza was having a fight w/ the iron. he was trying to iron his dress shirt, but the iron was spitting water at it. ohfuee came to the rescue again! hehe. finally we were all ready and drove off to palms. after missing the freeway and making several wrong turns, we were finally there. then lily noticed... mmouse was wearing tennis shoes and she specifically stated in the email that rain forbid sneakers. so we had a dilenma. it was 10:30 and we were in line. the club opens @ 11. should we head back and get ohfuee's other pair of shoes for mmouse, or should we try to wing it and hope they didn't catch. we decided to go back, well, joehk, mmouse, and i. about 2 blocks outta the parking lot, mmouse asks me if i had a key. i go... nope. u? neither joehk nor mmouse had the key to the penthouse either. we gave lily a call and they were thinking the exact same thing. dng was suppose to meet us at the parking lot to pass the key to us. by the time we returned to the parking lot, it was already 10:50. dng said the line was already moving and said we probably should try to wing it. welp, turns out the line was moving really slowly, so we mad a 2nd attempt to exchange mmouse's shoes. it took me bout 10mins to drive back, 5mins for mmouse to go upstairs and get his shoe, and another 10mins to get back to palms. when we got back, they barely moved about 10ft. (the line was probably at least 200ft long from where we were standing). after 30mins, the line was still hardly moving. ppl were leaving and coming back. mmouse and i decided to wander around. we found the club entrance and we were FAR from it. we asked around, and it turns out the guest list line wasn't the one we were in! ARGGGGHG! we went back and got everyone to line up at the new line which was a lot shorter, but not moving fast either. it was 1am when we decided it wasn't worth the trouble anymore to try to get in the club. the girls were pissed, the guys were tired, and everyone (w/ a few exceptions) wanted a drink. so they were sitting around the slot machines trying to get one of those drink serving ladies to come over to serve them, but no one came. haha.

we decided to goto caesar's palace and check that casino out and there they finally got their drink. $1 tip for a drink is a pretty good deal. we met up w/ c0rkie's friend cindy and we just walked around and then entered belagio. dng, kaytoe, and joehk suddenly got the itch to gamble so they drove back to excalibur. the rest of us just walked around and then entered belagio. we walked around. i had 50cents in my pocket. i put one in a slot machine and won $5 immediately. but as they say, easy come, easy go. i really had no use for $5 worth of quarters and decided to slot machine hope. so $5 worth of quarters = 20 quarters. so yah. 20 different slot machines. no winnings tho. *poof* all gone. so while i was slot machine hopping, one of the antendees walk over and he goes, "i'm sorry to have to do this to you, but you just look so young. can i see your id please." so i take out my id and he goes, "wow, you're turning 22 in just a few weeks. sorry to have troubled you. go have fun!" got carded my 2nd and last time @ vegas. they had this really nice christmas scenary that u can check out in my pix. i was talking about ocean's 11 w/ mmouse and told him about that big stair case where julia roberts (in a red dress) walked down. he goes he doesn't remember that scene and wanted to see the staircase. i went up to one of the attendants and asked if they could show us the where the big staircase was located. she tells me the staircase was taken apart awhile ago and they no longer have it. boooooo.

it was 3 or 4am and everyone was getting tired. i had my civic, but there were 9 ppl w/ us. so we called up dng and they were still gambling. apparently heang was up a lot and didnt want to leave. so we decided the better thign to do was to swap cars (leave my civic for dng and take his sienna) and drive those back who wanted to go home. halfway there dng tells us he probably wants to go home too, so that makes 10 ppl and 1 sienna, 10 ppl didn't really work. then i came up w/ the plan. since the shuttles to our timeshare stop @ 1am and resume @ 10am, we can make joehk and kaytoe take that shuttle back in the morning. well, that plan failed, cause dng wanted to stay to keep joehk company. kaytoe on the other hand wanted to leave. so we swapped cars, and i drove back to the belagio and picked up the rest and w/ 10 ppl in 1 sienna, we drove back. almost home, kaytoe decides he's really hungry and we stopped @ jack-in-the-box. couple other ppl chimed in to order and antegra ran off to the gas station's restrooms. he couldn't hold it any longer. welp, we finally got back and everyone went to sleep. i decided to take a shower before goign to bed because tomorrow morning would turn out to be battles for the restrooms, although there were 3 bathrooms this time.

got this article from /. : India's Odd Couple: Cops and Tech. a very interesting article on how technological gap within india itself is so big. Cybersecurity expert Raghu Raman said in 2004, police squads were known to confiscate evidence from some offices, returning with monitors and leaving computers behind. Computing teacher Vijay Mukhi said two years ago cops in Mumbai seized pirated software floppies and stapled them together as though they were documents, destroying the material.
