internet's been down. so sorry for the lack of updates. it's been horrible having to goto the computer labs on campus. well, not that horrible, but they closed early and i was left with boring nights, well besides the nights liam invited me to the parties. welp, comcast guys dropped by today and finally hooked my internet connection back up. the cable box on the roof, guess what, those comcast technicians didn't have a key to it either and they borrowed my screw driver and hack his way in. he broke my screw driver during the process too. welp, the guys were really kewl (did i say that already, hard to remember what i said or not say since i'm resuming after several hours). both of the were from Atlantic, Georgia. one flew in last nite. reason y? 1 job here makes them at least $55 compared to $30 in Atlanta. + they get extra for each outlet and etc. they said they made a $200+ for 1 job helping 1 guy hook up 5tvs to cable. they say they get ~13 jobs a day, but the luckier ones get > 20 and work till like 10pm. my god. lets say $55 x 20 = $1100 MINIMUM for 2 ppl in one day. that's a darn good job! welp, i'm happy now. the internet, just like a love one, u dont know how much they mean to u until u lose it. me and the internet need to makeup for lost time. pix are being uploaded as i speak. a story "may" follow, but don't hold me to it. and oh yah, before u make any deductions of what i did at the party, i was DD (designated driver).

went to several parties last friday and saturday w/ liam. the first party was hosted by anna (beardseeba's best? friend). good party, tons of ppl, but was too crowded imho. beardseeba, rainy, amber and lorie also went. part way through the party, liam and i left for another party. this party was pretty bad. it was pretty much dead by the time we got there. funny thing is though, i found out that liam has a tendency to mix up blake st. and haste st. we went into some random party on haste. the ppl were like, "who the heck are these guys?" then liam recalls he kept thinking we were on blake. we went down 2-3 blocks and his friend was there. saturday's party was hosted by amber and her housemates. this party was actually a lot more fun. fewer ppl, but everyone socialized. this time fastscrafjb, liam, beardseeba, rainy, lorie, milkmandan, and even jimmyatya.

okay, so i start burning cds. then i realize i left the cdrs which i was suppose to bring back (150+ fujis) @ home. *bonks head on wall* only 5 left! anime drive has 300mb free. my upload directory has 800mb pending to enter my anime drive. sigh...

first day of school was on monday. 1 class baby! my new schedules up. i'm still looking for another humanities class to take. japanese 1a is the first class i've taken @ berkeley that actually takes attendance. attendence is worth 10% of your final grade. sounds a lot like high school, eh? welp, i've gotta admit after 2 days of japanese, this is probably going to be the funnest class this semester. what was hiliarous was when komatsu sensei was trying to pronounce fantasy's last name (also taking this class with me). since japanese usually call ppl by there last name-san (only really close friends use first name basis), sensei was repeatedly trying to pronounce zhang-san. fantasy on the other hand was saying, oh, it doesn't matter. just forget about it. when asked if it was close enough, fantasy responded with "not really". i was about to laff my butt off. it was so rude, yet fantasy had no idea what he was doing. someone even wrote the chinese kanji and sensei read it as sho, and started to call him sho-san, but fantasy was still unsatisified with her pronunciation. finally he gave up and said, yah, that sounds good. i also found out hon = book. nice last name eh?

rao, my cs70 professor is teaching cs170 this semester. green and belldandy are also taking that class. he showed a really kewl algorithm today. take any 2 #s and put them into 2 columns. divide the left side by 2 until u hit 1, never keeping the decimals. multiple the right side by 2 until u reach the same # of rows as the first column. cross out all the columns with even #s on the left. add up the remaining #s on the right column. u have just done multiplication. example:

9 8
4 16
2 32
1 64
72

try it on any 2 #s and u'll see that it does indeed work. welp, here's the geeky part. i still haven't come up with a clear reason y yet, but i've found out that given A and B (A being left column and B being the right column), B increase by the power of 2^n, starting with 1B, 2B, 4B, 8B, 16B etc.. in the example above, only the 1st column (2^0) and 3rd column (2^3) remain which magically equals A (1+8=9), giving u A*B. the tricky party here is figuring out why even rows should be crossed out. my guess is this is actually a way to convert a decimal to binary. taking a # and dividing it by 2 and truncating it every time. when it's odd, u put in a 1, when it's even u put in a 0, hence 9 would be 1001.

oooh yah! guess what! martin's in my cs164 class. what a coincidence eh?

for calnime fans who visit my website more than the channel, we're having dinner tomorrow @ cheesecake factory in SF. feel free to join, but make sure u let kharizma know since she's organizing it. more info here
