07.20.2005 - thought of the day: during my ms orientation, i learn a new word: moonlighting. from dictionary.com, it means To work at another job, often at night, in addition to one's full-time job. it makes sense now, but when i first heard it, i associated it with working for rival companies or other companies doing the same thing, which in my case was programming. but now that i think about it, does that mean my regular work is consider daylighting? or sunlighting?
thought of the day: why do we say 1 copy, but 0 copies? why is 0 or nothing plural?
so i've been brushing up on c# and reading up more on what my project is about. it's quite interesting, although i'm afraid i'm not allowed to talk about anything yet. they also introduced me to their communication tool: Microsoft Office Communicator. this im client is neat! works with msn, yahoo, aim/aol, and even microsoft internal. but the coolest part is it accesses the telephone networks too. i can look someone up on it, right click it, and click call. my phone would then start ringing (well, i haven't gotten my fone yet, but i will soon) and so will the person which i'm calling.
oh yah, of course. i don't have my own office yet. i'm actually sharing it with one other person. it doesn't really matter much to me if i get my own room or not. but i did get a nice system. dell optiplex gx280 (P4 3.6GHz, 1.00gb ram, 160gb hdd - tho there's nothing really to use it on) and a nec 19" lcd. i also have 1 extra test system which as the name implicates, runs test that i write.
u may have heard of free drinks @ microsoft. it's actually pretty neat. free coffee, hot coacoa, tea, tons of brand name soda like slice, mountain dew, and nestea cool. they even have milk (2%, fat free, and chocolate milk). let's see... they had seagram's ginger ale and fresca and v8 and tons of juices. haha. tons more which i cant remember at the moment. ;p
my team consisted of 6 ppl and including me makes 7. they've been really nice to me, helping me along figure things out. i don't really have a fix time i need to goto work at. my manager says most ppl usually come in between 9-11. works for me. hehe.
so i went to watch Wedding Crashers tonite with cdmcc. we originally planned for it on monday, but cdmcc disappeared. then we planned for tuesday, but i came back too late. so we promised we'd do it tonite. hehe. the movie was hilarious, funnier than i previously imagined. but i was shocked by the amount of nudity it had. i thought this movie was rated pg13 or something. haha, boy was i wrong.
the new naruto ending is really cute! should check it out if you haven't.

got this article from yahoo: Police send nude shopper home with warning. He said police decided to let her go because few people and presumably no small children saw her at that time of day. they forgot to mention it was a naked female as the main reason for the warning. ;p
got this article from yahoo: A good reason to be a virgin.... A Ugandan member of parliament has pledged to reward girls for their chastity by paying their university fees if they are virgins when they leave school, a local newspaper said Wednesday. ... The MP did not extend his offer to young men. booo! this is sexual discrimination! i thought we were trying to make things equal!
got this article from yahoo: Cosmetic surgery firm riles Spanish nurses. The Health Ministry passed on a complaint to Corporacion Dermoestetica from the national nursing council urging the company to "publicly repair the honour and good image of nurses", the council said on its Web site on Wednesday. i'm here thinking... the japanese image of nurses saving people has been long gone... if you know what i mean.
got this article from yahoo: Teaching group to consider banning word "fail". The word "fail" should be banned from use in classrooms and replaced with the phrase "deferred success" to avoid demoralising pupils, a group of teachers has proposed. sigh... children these days are being shielded from the reality. no wonder they grow up all messed up.
