thought of the day: i mentioned about stairs yesterday and would like a follow up thought. have you ever walked down a stairs in the dark? walking up is ez, but going down is like the hardest thing ever. i'm always so scared of that last step. you ever walk down a stair w/o realizing you're down already and continuing trying to walk down and you have the sudden shock? going downstairs in the dark is about the same, but because you're in the dark, every step is like a final step. so you stick your foot out and "test the waters" to see if you've reached the bottom. hehe.

finally finished my project. the cs servers were down last nite from 11pm to 6am. they were nice to have postponed the due that from thursday midnite to friday noon. it's been a very very long week for me. after some stupid errors on my midterm, a essay that was due today (which i was about to turn in a rough draft - but thanks to our nice e190 instructor, whe had postpone the due date till next tuesday), and my ee122 proj which made me pull my 1st all-niter of the semester (took 2 x 2hr naps for the past 48 hrs). well, it's finally over. friday's finally here!

got this article from anandtech: Refunds due on 'anatomy enhancers'. An estimated 450,000 people who purchased bogus nutritional supplements promising penis enlargements and breast enhancements may be entitled to a portion of the $50 million forfeited by C.P. Direct Inc.

thanks to fuzzywuzzy for donating this article: Election Predictions Gone Stupid. The Guardian reports today in the "Briefly" section that kids aged 8-18 would "rather vote for President George W. Bush than for Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) by a 10-point margin." ... Apparently this poll is meaningful because "the polls of children have had 'a remarkable track record at predicting presidential elections outcomes.'" also has a bunch of interesting election predictors such as height, stock market, and even football games.

was browsing through *cough cough* and noticed: New Police Story starring Jackie Chan. movie looks interesting and there's this fan website dedicated to it.

the OS-Tans(chans) are back! they even have an entry in wikipedia. i recently learnt they all fall in the Trouble Windows series. You can read their comics here: Trouble Windows Translations (has both original japanese text and english translations).

found this on google: You have two cows. "You have two cows" jokes originated as a parody of typical "Economics 101" examples featuring a farmer in a moneyless society, using his cattle and produce to trade with his neighbours. Those examples would run along the lines of "You have two cows; you want chickens; you set out to find another farmer who has chickens and wants a cow, etc."; they were meant to show the limitations of the barter system, leading to the eventual introduction of currency and money. The "two cows" parodies however, place the cow-owner in a full-fledged economic system where cows are used as a metaphor for all currency, capital, means of production, etc. The intent is often to point out flaws and absurdities in those systems.
